Excellent Book and Great Testbank

I am a Finance professor and I used this book and its free testbank for my MBA level Corporate Finance. My students and I absolutely love this book for a variety of reasons.

1) There are a lot of good Corporate Finance/General Finance textbooks out there. For most of those books, they discuss finance in the order of financial statement analysis, time value of money, stocks and bonds, capital budgeting, efficient markets, etc. This book by Ivo Welch approaches finance in a different way. It begins with perfect market as a foundation, then add imperfect market and other finance topics after a good foundation is built. Since most students already use one of those other books in their 300 level finance class, this book could be a good option for 400 level and MBA level finance classes.

2) I really like the discussion of promised rate Vs. expected rate. This part of the discussion is the best among all the great finance book. The way Dr. Welch discuss the different layers of risk is also insightful.

3) The testbank (online quiz center) is a very neat tool. Dr. Welch provides questions for each chapter, and professors can choose the exact questions for the class assignments. In addition, professors can also make their own questions. It might take a little time to figure out how to add questions to the testbank, but it is really not too difficult.

4) Again, about this testbank. Numbers in most of the testbank questions are automatically updated every time students work on them. What I did was that I let students take unlimited attempts so that they can work on the questions repeatedly until they figure them out. Students' feedback to me indicates they LOVE this testbank system.

5) Last but not least, the price of this book is a bargain.

A delight of clarity for the newcomer to finance that I am

As a newcomer to finance I needed a book written for the novice. It came highly recommended as part of a Coursera class that I am currently taking on finance. So far so good, the book guides my learning and the numerous questions with full solution allow me to gauge and improve my understanding. Professor Welch has a done a great job by allowing students to also use the free of charge edition while waiting for delivery which in my case is critical since I live in England and it takes a while to be delivered (still waiting by the way). Another very clever feature of the book is the use of the perfect market assumptions to explain the concepts and then move on to tackle real life situations. As such it replicates the learning style that I am familiar with as an engineering major. I highly recommend the book and its price is a tasty additional sweetener. Enjoy!!!

I really like this book. It offers an integrated approach to learning Corporate Finance, starting from simplified markets to really complex financial situations. Moreover, the author has an engaging writing Style.

Main strengths of the book:

Uncertainty, Default and Risk (==> Better done than other books. A clear distinction between Expected and Promised Cash Flows)

Capital Budgeting Applications and Pitfalls (The NPV Checklist) (==> Brilliant and useful)

From Financial Statements to Economic Cash Flows (==>A nice review of the Indirect Method approach to Cash Flows)

Pro Forma Financial Statements (==>Well done, although i would like to see a more consistent treatment of Financial Statements Forecasting for valuation purposes using the Direct Method)

Valuation from Comparables and Some Financial ratios (==> Better done than other books)

Taxes and Capital Structure

More Imperfect Market Capital Structure

Epilogue (==>Insightful)

The greatest strenght of the book is the progression from the perfect market, LOP world to an imperfect market, constructing numerical examples in order to teach real problem solving.

EuropeanWerewolves are classified the most dangerous breed of Werewolf in theworld. Although Declan was trained theLokoti Werewolf way to curb his deadly hunger, prejudice still arises. Instead of Declan placing B on apedestal? With his European Werewolfpersonality he pounced instead. EuropeanWerewolves just love a good fight, which was exactly what Declan got when hesecretly chased the tribe's only female Werewolf.

From themistrust towards his breed, Declan is forced to silently watch B's arrangedmarriage to another member of the pack.Although her husband is a good man, B comes to miss the chemistry sheshared with her supposed worst enemy.Navigating their rocky romance, B and Declan also have to contend withhuman looters carrying shotguns loaded with silver bullets, the odd EuropeanVampire, other European Werewolves who are still man-eaters and even asensitive issue that human couples may face; a barren marriage. All I can say is WOW. This was even better than the first book. It takes you through all of the emotions. Would recommend this book to all of my friends.

If you want a really bad story go for it.

This entire book is all over the place and has way too much going on. Then to make it the writers have the 17 year old heroine raped by the wolf they want to convince you is her true love. The guy is hunting in wolf form changes back to human attacks and forces himself on her. After the first 4 times he gets off then Bianca decides it's okay. There was no way it wasn't rape and it was gross. Declan is a low life in every way but try to make it seem like he should really be with Bianca even while she was married to a wonderful guy who was killed. Bianca is the first female wolf of her race and the last circulator. This makes her barren, she is forced into all the decisions that are made. I kept wanting her to be the one to die. Any girl that is that whiny and that stupid is so shallow who cares what happens to her!

Wonderful supernatural love story! This book is full of grit, fun, sex & action. I didn't know werewolves could be so interesting! B's whole ancestral history is fascinating. Its a long story, but I couldn't put it down. I'm now reading Sororate & can't wait for the next in her series! Thank you K.R. Smith!

About the Author
Bradley A. Shellito is a geographer whose work focuses on the application of geospatial technologies.� Dr. Shellito has been a professor at Youngstown State University (YSU) since 2004, and was previously a faculty member at Old Dominion University.� He teaches classes in GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS, and 3D Visualization and his research interests involve using these concepts with a variety of real-world issues.� He also serves as YSU’s PI in OhioView, a statewide geospatial consortium.� A native of the Youngstown area, Dr. Shellito received his bachelor’s degree from YSU, his Masters from the Ohio State University, and his doctorate from Michigan State University.

Helping fill gaps in learning not met in GIS course labs.

This book is phenomenal. My concentration in school is GIScience and remote sensing. My professor loaned me her copy for an internship, and I loved it so much, I went out and bought one myself.

This book has superb step-by-step methodology for learning complex ArcGIS analytics. I've taught myself address location, network analysis, and bridged the gap between ArcGIS and remote sensing using this book alone. The chapter on address location taught me all I needed to know to help build client based maps for a nonprofit in town that provides basic needs and housing to persons in need. This book helped those people directly, simply with it's clear and concise explanation of address location and address correction.

Each chapter has subset boxes providing more detailed information behind the point-and-clicking of GIS. You're not just going to be a monkey making maps, the book provides some rounded introduction into GIScience theory, which is crucial. Each chapter has additional citations on where to go to learn more in ArcGIS Help, or elsewhere.

If you're building a course, I'd recommend this as a tool for building and constructing labs. I was a TA in a cartography lab for two semesters, and I'd say this book has taught me much more, to bridge the gap between academia and reality. I will depend on this as a reference as I finalize my time as a student, and enter the GIS workforce.

Important not to get confused.

It is important not to confuse the possibility of developing your own idea on open source with hacking because, even if the open source allows you to do it, it is not a synonimus of hacking and this book explains all that throught the development of these two basic concepts meanwhile both of them offers different definitions and you can actually be aware of the differences between them. I found interesting learning about ethical hacking and how it can be actually helpful in order to develope a better software that can be useful for people around the world. Highly recomended.

If you want to protect yourself from hackers you got to understand how they work, and this book does a great job explaining that in a manner that is easy to understand to anyone, even if they are beginners. When my S.O got me this book I was really excited, since I have been looking into this hacking stuff for some time now. As I said before the books do an awesome job at explaining the basics of hacking and open source code, if you are interested in these topics look no furthers.

About the Author
David Knox, Ph.D., is professor of sociology at East Carolina University, where he teaches courtship and marriage; marriage and the family; and sociology of human sexuality. He is a marriage and family therapist as well as the author or co-author of 12 books and over 100 professional articles.

Caroline Schacht, M.A. in Sociology and M.A. in Child Development and Family Relations, is Instructor Emeritus at East Carolina University. She retired from a career teaching sociology to become a certified Romana's Pilates instructor. She is co-author of several textbooks and balances her time writing and revising, teaching Pilates in her home studio, and writing children's verses and songs for her grandchildren.

Waste of money and time.

If there was a "zero", I would choose that. Some of the information is correct. Some of the information is just based on the author's opinion or have they have been mislead. Also, what kind of college book has a cuss word in it? This is supposed to be an academic book. I'm so glad I only rented this book and did not buy it.
